Cracking the interview with the right moves!

The right moves and the right faces get you to just the right places!
Body Language is important..errr..very important. It is crucial that one's words and one's body language are in sync, be it a sales meeting, a job-interview, or a conference.
Job-seekers with savoir-faire understand the significance of picking and using the right words during their conversation with employers, but what about the repercussion of detracted body language.  "You could be saying how great and confident you feel, but your body language maybe wishy-washy.'  It is interesting to note that according to a study, if the spoken words don't match the body-talk, the listener/audience is likely to believe what the body is saying!

So here are a few sequential tips based on scientific studies that will help to work on building the right body language:
1.       LET's GET IN: Keep that smile and enthusiasm on! Once inside the premises, politely introduce yourself to the receptionist and wait in attention for  someone to attend you. Stand and firmly shake hands with the person who comes to escort you.  Put those ios/androids on silent, before entering the interview room. Mask your nervousness with energy and zeal.
2.      INSIDE THE INTERVIEW ROOM:
i)        Smile, keep the eye contact and maintain an open posture. Shake hands with the interviewer, ensure: initiating first handshake, this shows confidence and good spirits and NO NO sweat/clammy hands.
ii)      Sit tight and firm, keeping your back straight- this is an automatic signal of confidence and poise. In case one is a natural sloucher, alert your mind thinking that there's a string pulling you up from the crown of your head.
iii)    Experts suggest the tendency to hide one's hands expresses nervousness, however hiding ones hands can give an impression of distrustful attitude. Therefore one should use hand gestures while speaking.
iv)    When gesturing with hands, it is crucial to be careful with the position, one should  at all times keep them above the desk and below the neckline.
v)      Palms-up is important to remember. In fact, upward facing body language such as open palms, smiles and right posture makes one feel positive and vibrant and look energetic.
vi)    The importance of being grounded should not never be underestimated, Experts recommend that feet should be firmly planted on the ground. The scientific reason behind this is 'it is not impossible but complicated to answer tough questions unless the set of feet is on ground, as it is related to the movement between limbic reptilian brain and neocortex brain
vii)   One basic way to calm the interview nerves is to 'keep breathing properly', taking deep breaths before the interview 'reduces the heart rate, maintains the blood pressure and keeps the stress hormone level in limits.
viii)            Apart from maintaining the eye/face contact, nodding one's head shows attentiveness and comfort
3. POST INTERVIEW: Once the interview is done, collect your belongings in calm manner, rise gently and keep that smile on. If not possible with everyone, at least manage a handshake with the hiring manager and the person who escorted you. Make sure to not leave the place in a negative way. After 24-48 hours one should send a note/e-mail to the member of the  interview panel (for this names, titles and email-ids are needed).

This old axiom that ‘actions speak louder than words’ may sound cliché, but when body language forms more than 60% of first impressions, we oughta' go by the buzzing truth. So, go ahead and slay the interview with your right body moves!
