We discussed in the last post, how creative thinking patterns enhances productivity and performance.
The awesome part about creative thinking is it can be promoted and developed by just adopting a broader perspective and some minor changes in routine life.

Lets discuss 5 super simple ideas to develop CTP:

  1. Work on Pattern Recognition: According to designers of IQ test, pattern recognition is a key element for determining an individual's logical, verbal and numerical thought process. According to researchers, there is a high degree of correlation between the general intelligence factor and the ability of pattern recognition. Develop pattern recognition skills help in fostering creative side of the brain.   2. Work on your curious mind: A very frugal idea is to practice the inquisitiveness of a child. Ask questions; think about basic problems you face, try finding easier alternative solutions by breaking the routine. Bring in different perspectives from friends or relatives and let their perspective enlighten your mind to develop innovative ideas. Being in an inactive mode pushes us towards monotony and vulnerability of fixed ideology and hence we fall prey to a moth eaten life. Incorporating a work-out routine in our routine lives helps to develop mental clarity and enhanced cognitive abilities   
  4. Work on Experimentation: Psychologist Scott Barry Kaufman suggests that openness to new experience is the one of the key routes to developing creative thinking patterns. The cue is to challenge yourself to explore and experiment in different fields that catch your interest. For instance If you are into a marketing industry, study operations or finance business that will lead you to develop newer acumen. In other words, don’t hesitate or pull back to be the jack of multiple trades as it will only promote creative achievements.
  5. Don’t Work-Unplug: Sounds totally contradictory right-but yes many a times when the brain gets bogged down by information overload, you develop a mental fog. It is advisable to unplug and do nothing at all in such moments. Simply rest. When you let your brain unplug and rest, it develops a higher potential to imbibe new things, letting your creative juices flow. Maybe your next strike-through idea comes while you are driving or shopping or sitting by the beach.
